Tower Hamlets launches Intermediate Housing Register giving residents first selection on new homes
Published: Saturday 31 July 2021Tower Hamlets has launched its new Intermediate Housing Register to help people on low to average incomes find a secure home and help tackle the housing waiting list.
Residents on the register will get the first chance to express interest in any new London Living Rent, Shared Ownership and other intermediate housing schemes built in the borough.
For the first three months homes are listed, only local people and those who have worked in the borough for at least six months who are registered will get details of the properties. After that, if Tower Hamlets residents have not bought or rented the homes, they will be opened up to the general public.
There are currently 21,249 households on the council’s housing waiting list, which far outstrips supply. This figure is the third highest waiting list in London after Newham and Lambeth.
The new Intermediate Housing Register aims to assist low to average income households currently on the housing waiting list, as well as other residents of Tower Hamlets and those working in the borough, to find suitable housing option.
More details and how to apply are on the Intermediate Housing Register page, on the Ways to Move tab.
